Ashflicks are cheap, noisy, and slightly flammable. Most folks carry at least one. They keep your tea warm, start kindling fast, and occasionally pop when you lie. Kids collect them. If you crack one open (don’t), it smells like ash and sweetbread, and if it rolls on its own… well, that’s your problem now.
Most towns have a local meltpot where you can toss in your old cinderbits to fuse them into something bigger, assuming yours haven’t burnt out. They don’t last forever, but while they’re hot, they feel like something alive in your pocket. The traveller's favourite companion
